Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne

The École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) is a research institute and university in Switzerland that specializes in natural sciences and engineering. It is one of the two Swiss Federal Institutes of Technology, and it has three main missions: education, research and technology transfer at the highest international level. It has over 17000 students and employees.

Company profile

The POWERlab, directed by Prof. Elison Matioli, is a research laboratory part of EPFL that focuses on semiconductor electronic devices. During this project, the POWERlab will develop new multichannel device concepts based on GaN semiconductors for efficient power electronics.

Role in the project

WP2 partner

Key contribution

The contribution of the POWERlab will be on the W.P. 2, with the following tasks:

  • Superior field management to increase voltage of GaN HEMTs
  • Decrease the resistance of GaN HEMTs: combination with multichannels.
  • Improve thermal dissipation: Novel microfluidic cooling technologies
  • Integrated power circuits with embedded cooling
